The fifth generation of the just under four-meter-long Micra city runabout has been on sale for a good two years. Now Nissan is introducing many innovations, but leaving the exterior of the car unchanged. In addition to new engines, there is improved connectivity, including map updates directly via smartphone (over the air).

Larger, stronger significantly more economical
The previous 0.9-liter three-cylinder turbo is boosted to 1.0 liters, offers 100 instead of 90 hp and 160 instead of 140 Nm. The result: the small Japanese car accelerates to 100 km/h 1.2 seconds faster at 10.9 seconds. At the same time, modern technologies such as variable intake valve control reduce fuel consumption by half a liter.
To the 5-speed transmission, the engine is also available with CVT automatic, cost 1300 francs.
Thanks to the D-Step programming, the automatic offers a natural-looking gradation and the otherwise howling, CVT-typical rubber band effect is completely absent. Our skepticism about the Xtronic automatic completely disappeared after only a few kilometers.

6-speed transmission and engine with 117 hp
Direct injection and fine-tuning by technology partner Daimler characterize the 117-hp engine, which is also new. The 1.0-liter turbo with 6-speed transmission accelerates to 100 in 9.9 seconds, with a lively as well as elastic ride thanks to 20 Nm of overboost. This engine is also available as N-Sport, with 10 millimeters lowering, firmer suspension and more direct steering.
Claudia Meyer, Country Manager Switzerland Nissan: "The automatic is the most important news for us." The automatic is expected to account for more than 40 percent of the Micra's sales mix, with the 117-horsepower engine accounting for the rest. Overall, the Micra now covers just under 80 percent of all B-segment needs, compared with only about one-third before. Claudia Meyer: "This means that we have now fully arrived in the segment with the Micra.
