The new front of the Jeep Cherokee now matches the brand image again and is less exotic. The rear design is completely new and less jagged. The license plate has been moved far up.

Jeep is already the real money machine of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, but it is still growing unabated. In Europe, growth this year is 23 percent, in Switzerland even just under 50 percent.

Now the off-road specialist is launching the revamped Cherokee. It is the third new model this year after the Renegade and Wrangler.

Powerful off-roader for everyday use
After the facelift of the fifth generation, the car continues to score as a powerful off-roader and in road traffic. Visually, the front catches the eye positively, because the new headlights bid farewell to the alienating slit lamp look of the previous model.

The spaciousness remains unchanged, and the trunk grows thanks to the extended rear seat adjustment range. The cockpit with large multimedia screen is pleasantly clear.

With less chrome, a new hood and sleeker lines, the Cherokee takes on more of an actual Jeep look again. Better materials, more connectivity and a slightly larger trunk can be reported on the inside.

Depending on requirements as diesel or gasoline engine
At the end of September, the Cherokee will first come with the 2.2-liter diesel with 195 hp, followed in January 2019 by a new turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine with 270 hp, replacing the previous 3.2 V6.

Both are coupled with AWD and a 9-speed automatic, and depending on the version also equipped with off-road reduction. The particularly off-road Trailhawk is only available with a gasoline engine.

Jeep is counting on the Limited and Overland toplines in Switzerland in particular, but also the Trailhawk. The Cherokee is very extensively equipped and starts at 48,900 Swiss francs, including full LED headlights, a 7-inch UConnect system, and various assistance systems.
