The new Aston Martin Vantage GT4 is ready for test drives.

As the official race partner of Aston Martin Racing (AMR), PROsport Performance will enter two of each of the brand new Vantage GT4s in the GT4 European Series. The first duo is Florian Thoma from Studen and Akhil Rabindra from India.

The 23-year-old from Biel competed in the ADAC TCR Germany in 2017 and 2018 in a VW Golf TCR, and also in the 24 Hours of Dubai (class victory) and TCR Series in the Middle East at the start of the season last year. In 2018, Thoma was also the official brand ambassador for Volkswagen Switzerland. That is now over.

Experienced team from the Nürburgring
PROsport Performance has been competing in GT4 since 2013 and won the European Series drivers' and teams' titles in 2016. The Swiss newcomer is therefore convinced that the team from Wiesemscheid is well positioned at the Nürburgring.

Florian Thoma: "I'm really looking forward to the new challenge. I wanted to move on after two years in TCR. The GT4 European series is a good entry into GT racing. The Aston Martin Vantage GT4 not only looks really good, I'm also convinced that we'll make a good development process together and can race at the front."

While GT4 is new territory for Florian Thoma, who is classified as a silver driver by the FIA, 22-year-old Indian Akhil Rabindra has already completed two GT4 seasons in the European Series as well as in the British Championship in 2017, when he was a member of the McLaren GT Driver Academy.

Test drives in Barcelona
The team will complete the first test drives with the GT3 and GT4 cars from England from March 12 to 15 on the GP circuit in Barcelona. The GT4 test vehicle from AMR will still be used. Delivery of the PROsport Performance cars is scheduled for the second half of March.

The GT4 European Series calendar features six races. The European championship, which was introduced in 2006 and is part of the Blancpain GT Series, will kick off in Monza in mid-April. One of Thomas' opponents will be fellow Canton resident Patric Niederhauser in a KTM X-Bow GT4.
