Motorsport: Day victory on anniversary

The course of the 2016 Swiss Slalom Championship is as varied as the weather: In Bure, Philip Egli celebrated his third victory of the season. Because Martin Bürki only received half points, Danny Krieg now leads the Slalom Championship alone - but only for seven days. After Marcel Maurer in Saanen, it was now Philip Egli's turn again. The overall winners of Bure: Marcel Maurer, jubilarian Philip Egli and Augustin Sanjuan (from left).

After Marcel Maurer in Saanen, it was now Philip Egli's turn again. After it was still dry in practice and predominantly wet in the first race run, the Zurich native, who had turned 32 two days earlier, pulled out all the stops in the second run on a still partly damp surface and distanced the Bernese by over four seconds. Fittingly for his 100th car race since 2010, when he started in a VW Scirocco, Egli thus took a superior third win of the season after Frauenfeld and Interlaken with his Dallara F3. Last year's winner Jean-Marc Salomon did not qualify after technical problems with the Tatuus-Honda FM. Overall second place went to Marcel Maurer in his Formula Renault Midland ahead of Augustin Sanjuan in his Dallara F3.

Behind seven racing cars, Stephan Burri in the VW Polo 1600 was the fastest touring car driver and winner of the Interswiss Trophy ahead of Jörg Ochnser (Opel Kadett) and Andreas Lanz (Toyota Corolla). Group E1 found already less good conditions, with which Danny Krieg and Martin Bürki coped best. Bürki stayed with the E1 Polo in the first run only half a second behind the four-wheel drive Audi A4 STW of the Schwyzer, in the second run no more time improvements were possible.

Unrewarded defending champion: Martin Bürki was second-fastest E1 driver, but only received half points. On Sunday, he can reclaim the top spot in the standings.

War leads the championship for a week
Unfortunately, the class victory did not bring the Bernese much, because he had one opponent too few and thus received only half points. So Krieg is now alone at the top of the table with 95 points ahead of Bürki, Egli and Maurer with 85 points each. Already next Sunday the situation in the championship will change again, because Krieg starts at the hill climb Hemberg and thus draws a stroke result in the slalom championship.
