Motorsport: Jubilation at the Nürburgring

It was not only the Swiss drivers, who won their classes, who were delighted with their success at the ninth round of the VLN at the Nürburgring. Emil Frey Racing and the Swiss importer also played a part in the first overall victory for a Lexus GT prototype. Manuel Amweg and Thomas Lampert celebrated an important victory in the TMG GT86 Cup. They have the title within their grasp: Thomas Lampert (left) and Manuel Amweg only need to finish the final race to win the 2016 TMG GT 86 Cup with the Toyota Swiss Racing car.

Manuel Amweg and Thomas Lampert celebrated an important victory in the TMG GT86 Cup. It was the third triumph in a row for Toyota Swiss Racing and the fifth in the current season. Once again, a flawless performance by the driver from Aargau and the driver from Liechtenstein as well as a clever pit strategy decided the victory in the GT86 one-make cup. In the final race in two weeks' time, only a retirement and simultaneous victory by the first team in pursuit can prevent the title win.

In the Opel Astra OPC Cup, Roger Vögeli was the third driver to help Lubner Motorsport become champions early with the car in question. Roger Vögeli also took turns with Olivier Burri and Christoph Wüest at the wheel of the Honda Civic TCR from Garage Schmid in Reinach BL, which the trio took to the finish line in fourth place in its class. In the BMW M235i Racing Cup with the most participants, Yannick Mettler finished third to take his first Nürburgring podium. Martin and Michael Kroll won the SP6 class with Roland Eggimann in the BMW M3 CSL - the five opposing teams did not survive the 4-hour race.

Successful premiere: The German Farnbacher brothers brought the Lexus GT3 prototype, developed in cooperation with Switzerland and Japan, to the finish line as overall winners of the ninth VLN race.

First overall victory for Lexus with help from Safenwil
The overall winners provided a surprise. Mario and Dominik Farnbacher finished first in a Lexus RC F GT Prototype entered for the first time. Lexus Switzerland and Emil Frey Racing, who did not enter their own GT3 car this time, played a part in this. "The completely new vehicle is based on the experience of its predecessor, whose development has now been completed. The RC F GT Prototype Next Generation is the consistent further development of the previous model, based on the data and improvements that Emil Frey Racing and Farnbacher Racing as well as the team in Japan have achieved over the last two years. The Nordschleife is the ultimate test track," says Hannes Gautschi from Lexus Switzerland, explaining the cooperation that has been rewarded with the first overall victory in the VLN.
