Next year, Daniel Mauerhofer will celebrate his 40th anniversary in Swiss racing. As a belated gift for his 60th birthday in April, the man from Aargau acquired a Dallara race car from the former World Series by Nissan (2002 to 2004). The World Series by Renault (WSR) was created from this racing series in 2005.

Good memories of 2014
After a few slaloms for non-licensed drivers, Mauerhofer obtained his national racing license in Hockenheim in 1979. Up to and including 2018, the long-time president of Ecurie Basilisk took part in more than 250 automobile races, scoring numerous victories. However, he never harbored championship ambitions.

After four years with his Norma Honda, a two-liter racing sports car from the CN sports car group, Mauerhofer returns to the monoposti. Previously at the start of isolated races for four seasons with a Tatuus Formula Renault, he stunned everyone at the 2014 Frauenfeld slalom in changeable weather conditions with a category win in the racing sports cars.

Strong team in the background
The Dallara with 3.0 V6 engine will be his 60th racing car that he has driven in modern or historic events. This is the former vehicle of Jean-Claude Debrunner and Martin Kindler (day winner Gurnigel 2007).

With the Norma M20, Mauerhofer achieved numerous class victories at the hill climbs in Reitnau, Oberhallau and on the Gurnigel.

Over the winter, a number of settings on the car will be adjusted for the planned starts at slaloms and hillclimbs in Switzerland. Mauerhofer can count on his long-time friends Ueli Schüpbach (Racervices in Bättwil), Ruedi Mettler (Sauber Motorsport), Martin Nebel (chassis engineer in the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team) and Detlef Offner for technical preparation and support on the race track.

Premiere in Interlaken
In order to get used to the 410 hp sports machine, test drives are planned at the Circuito Nuvolari in Italy in March. The first races planned for April are the two slaloms in Interlaken (6th) and Frauenfeld (28th).

The goal is to achieve good rankings in the respective overall classifications. However, the jubilarian's first priority is always driving pleasure and the joy of motor racing.
