The new Subaru Impreza stands on a completely new platform and is already available in Switzerland since last weekend.

On the surface, the new Subaru Impreza 4×4 remains quite the same. Even if it presents itself a bit sportier visually according to the vendor.

Only little longer
However, the four-and-a-half centimeter longer body hides many innovations - for example, the "Subaru Global Platform". This can be experienced while driving. The center of gravity has been lowered by five millimeters compared to its predecessor, and new stabilizers give the Impreza 4×4 dynamic handling.

More technology
Subaru calls the technology responsible for this Active Torque Vectoring. In curves, the electronics direct more torque to the outer wheels. Turn-in behavior becomes more agile and precise. In addition to the new vehicle underbody, the two-liter boxer engine has also been redesigned. It has lost twelve kilos and now produces 156 hp. Together with the likewise weight-optimized Lineartronic transmission, the front axle weighs almost 20 kilograms less than its predecessor. In addition to the two-liter boxer (from 30,150 Swiss francs), a 1.6-liter variant with 114 hp (from 24,650 Swiss francs) is also available at the sales launch, which already took place last weekend.

Fewer accidents thanks to EyeSight
The latest generation of the EyeSight driver assistance system, which is fitted as standard, also takes another step forward. Controlled by two cameras, the safety feature brakes to a standstill in an emergency. According to a study in Japan, EyeSight prevents up to 84 percent of accidents.
