BYD: Yangwang comes with two models 🎥
PREMIERE Chinese car company BYD announces the first two models of its luxury brand Yangwang - the comfortable large SUV U8 and the supercar U9, both at reasonable prices.
The models are based on the same platform, called e4, and are powered by four electric motors. This should make them far superior to conventional vehicles with internal combustion engines, stressed BYD President Wang Chuanfu at the presentation of the two models in Shenzhen, China.
Up to 100 km/h in two seconds
Together, the four engines produce around 810 kW (1100 hp). In the case of the U9 supercar, this should be enough for acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just two seconds. The 5.3-meter-long and two-meter-wide U8 SUV is said to be well secured against water ingress on fords.
BYD plans to establish a special distribution network for the Yangwang brand. This is intended to set the brand apart from others and enable it to respond more quickly to market demands in its independence. The asking price for each model is 145,000 US dollars. It remains to be seen what the price tag will be when the car is launched in Europe.
