Sportec: With Marcel Fässler's help to beautiful successes

GT2 TITLE AND PORSCHE PODIUM With Marcel Fässler as sports director, Sportec Racing achieved some successes in the past racing season. This was not to be expected from the outset after the restructuring of the company from Höri.

Marcel Fässler and Sportec boss Gregor Burkard have gasoline in their blood.

With the last race weekend of the Porsche Sports Cup Suisse in Misano, the first weekend of November also saw the end of a thoroughly successful motorsport season for Sportec Racing. In the newly created Fanatec GT2 European Series, Christoph Ulrich won the title with the KTM X-Bow (gallery on the left) and Gregor Burkard took third place overall in the GT3 class of the Porsche Sports Cup Suisse. Ricardo Burkard also contributed to the achievement of the set season goals.

Accordingly, the balance from the racing CEO of Sportec Racing is positive.

Gregor Burkard: "I am very happy with the performance of the entire team across the various racing series. This was not to be expected from the outset, as we have completely repositioned ourselves in all respects - starting with Motorsport, Classic and all other areas."

No stone was left unturned. But the success proves the men from Höri right.

Joy for Marcel Fässler
Three-time Le Mans winner Marcel Fässler has been pulling the strings as Head of Motorsport at Sportec Racing since this year. It's clear that the man from Schwyz also has a big part to play in this and is delighted with his drivers' successes.

Marcel Fässler: "First and foremost, of course, the championship title in the new SRO GT2 European Series was the highlight. This only worked thanks to an exceptional team and driver performance and is ultimately reflected in the results."

Despite the new racing series and new vehicle concept, the experience gained over the past decade was put to good use. Of ten races completed, regular driver Christoph Ulrich (gallery right with shield AM Champions), who Fässler attests has made enormous progress, finished six in first place in his category and was on the podium a total of nine times.

With the necessary know-how and driving performance, experienced people of the caliber of Hans-Joachim Stuck or even the KTM factory team could be relegated to the back seats.

It is clear that they will defend the title next season and thus want to confirm their success. Negotiations with possible pilots are underway.

Goal achieved in Porsche Sports Cup Suisse
In the Porsche Sports Cup Suisse, Sportec Racing with the two brothers Ricardo and Gregor Burkard finished on the podium nine times in twelve races on six different race tracks.

In the final standings, Gregor finished third in the GT3 Cup championship and Burkard tenth with only three race appearances. The team is thus on target and has met the goals defined at the beginning of the season.

Marcel Fässler: "This success, too, is only due to a consistent team performance that can be built on. Our goal must be to also have a say in the Porsche Sports Cup Suisse when it comes to awarding the title."

Goodbye in 2022. At the final endurance night race on November 6 in Misano, Burkard and Fässler were still on the podium together in third place in the GT3 class (photo: Deckbar).
