Simracing: New rules promote excitement

REGISTRATION FROM TODAY On September 1, the first official Swiss Simracing Championship will start its third season. A new and even more attractive format will ensure excitement until the very last race. Probably the most important new rule is that all participants have to register during the qualification phase, which will take place from September 1 to 25 in all Swiss Race-Centers.ch centers [...]

A few important innovations await defending champion Thomas Schmid and his competitors.

Probably the most important new rule is that all participants must compete for one of the 24 starting places with fast lap times during the qualification phase, which runs from September 1 to 25 at all Race-Centers.ch Swiss centers.

With 60 francs you are in
Participation in the qualification costs 60 Swiss francs per attempt. Registration has been open since Monday, August 2, 2021, at 10 am. At www.simracingseries.ch all drivers must fill out an appropriate registration form.

A maximum of four 30-minute timed tests per participant are possible across all centers. The race will be held at the Brands Hatch GP Circuit (GB).

At the end of the qualification phase, the best twelve PRO and six AM drivers (aged 45 and over) as well as the fastest six ladies will be qualified to take part in the Swiss Simracing Series 2021.

24 participants are fighting for the title in the first official Swiss championship in simracing this year.

Points almost like in Formula 1
In the four championship rounds then to come, 24 pilots will be competing for important championship points. An entry fee of 150 Swiss francs is due for all finalists.

At each race, the points are distributed according to the FIA regulations. This means that the winner gets 25 points and the eleventh-placed driver another one.

Suspense until the end
In order to keep the title decision open until the last race, double points will be awarded at the season-ending event. In addition, three extra points are awarded for pole position and the fastest lap time in each race. Ideally, therefore, each driver can collect a maximum of 31 points per championship race.

Each driver is entitled to one strike result over the four championship races that count towards the classification. If someone starts in all races, the worst result will be deleted in the final ranking.

The first three championship races will each be held at two race centers, the fourth race at the Porsche Center Schlieren.

Each of the championship races held on actual Formula 1 circuits consists of free practice, qualifying and the 35-minute race. The AM and Ladies categories are combined into one starting field. The PRO category then runs its race afterwards.

Chance for rookies
In order to bring the sport of sim racing to a wider audience, a rookie race will be held at all championship rounds. For a fee of 80 Swiss francs, sim fans get the chance to compete against the competition.

The respective winner automatically qualifies for the final event at the Porsche Center Schlieren. There, with another victory, he has the opportunity to skip the qualification phase right away next year via a wild card and then fight for the Swiss championship title.
