Two dynamic companies, one goal: to cut a fine figure at the most technologically advanced level of motorsport. Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi will continue to do so in 2021.

The partnership dates back to 2018. At that time, Alfa Romeo joined the traditional Swiss racing team as title sponsor. In 2018 and 2019, the team from Hinwil finished eighth in the annual standings.

Five world championship points in twelve races so far in 2020
In the current Formula 1 season, Antonio Giovinazzi and Kimi Räikkönen are once again battling for this position. The Italian scored points in ninth place in the first race in Spielberg and tenth place in the eleventh race of the season at the Nürburgring.

So far, the Finn has only managed a points finish in ninth place at the Tuscan GP in Mugello. The third driver, Robert Kubica, has only taken part in free practice so far.

The trio will remain together for the 2021 World Championship. Which puts speculation about Mick Schumacher joining the team to bed.

Strong declaration of intent
True to its strong competitive spirit, Alfa Romeo has once again accepted the challenge.

Frédéric Vasseur, Team Director Alfa Romeo Racing and CEO Sauber Motorsport AG: "The extension of our partnership is a strong declaration of intent from both parties. In Sauber, Alfa Romeo has found a committed, performance-oriented partner to whom the brand can be entrusted. We are honored to continue the legacy and success of Alfa Romeo in our name."

Time for the harvest
Both partners have always been interested in long-term cooperation. They have laid a solid foundation over the past three seasons. Now they want to reap the rewards of this work in 2021 and beyond.

Mike Manley, CEO Fiat Chrysler Automobiles: "Racing and performance are at the core of Alfa Romeo's DNA. The brand was practically born on a race track and today we are still present at the most technologically advanced level of motorsport. The partnership with Sauber also allows our customers to benefit from the team's exclusive racing expertise."

This applies, for example, to the new Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and GTAm models, in whose technological development Sauber Engineering was involved, particularly with regard to the advanced aerodynamics (AutoSprintCH reported).

Special paintwork for a special occasion
To celebrate the extension of the partnership, the two Alfa Romeo C39s will be sporting a special livery at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix next weekend. The race will take place in Imola, an important venue for Alfa Romeo and the Italian motorsport tradition alike.

The design, created by Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, honors the fans with an Italian flag on the upper part of the engine cover and on the end plates of the rear wing. This graphic perfectly matches the regular Speed Pixel livery of the two cars in the 2020 season.

Iconic race track
In addition, the exclusive logo for Alfa Romeo's 110th anniversary can be seen in a prominent position, also on the engine cover. Next to it is the "Welcome back, Imola" lettering, which refers to the return of the iconic racetrack to the Formula 1 calendar and its significance for Italian motor racing.

From touring cars and sports prototypes to Formula 1, Imola was also the scene of important successes for Alfa Romeo.
