Motorsport: Swiss victories at the Nürburgring

It is rare for Swiss teams and drivers to perform so well in a VLN race on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. Last Saturday, they celebrated five class victories. Jasmin Preisig has been eagerly awaiting her new Opel Astra for the ADAC TCR Germany for months. To bridge the forced break, the driver from Appenzell returned to the cockpit of an Opel Astra OPC. Together with Daniel Hadorn and Roger Vögeli, she formed an all-Swiss trio - and they gave their opponents a run for their money in the eight-car Cup1 class. Jasmin Preisig showed that she was ready for a change of scene with the fastest race lap of all the Astra OPCs. Roger Vögeli also took turns with Roland Schmid at the wheel of the newly acquired Honda Civic TCR from Garage Schmid in Reinach, who were delighted with their first finish and third place in the SP3T class.

Holiday for the Toyota Swiss Racing Team
In the TMG GT86 Cup, Manuel Amweg and Thomas Lampert alternated several times at the front with the championship leaders' car. In the end, the GT86 entered by Toyota Swiss Racing was the clear winner with the fastest race lap. The duo improved their title chances with their second win of the season. The team from Safenwil had double reason to be happy, as not only the Lexus RC F GT3 of Emil Frey Racing with Lorenz Frey and Stéphane Ortelli finished in 10th place overall, but also the car of Farnbacher Racing, co-supported by Lexus Switzerland. After starting second on the grid, the Germans led for a short time, but were unable to match the pace of the GT3 leaders over the distance and finished fourth.

Ivan Jacoma and his German partner Claudius Karch are subscribed to class victories with a Porsche Cayman S in the V6 class. Halfway through the season, they lead the 2016 VLN production car trophy and are in second place in the overall VLN standings out of 640 drivers. The fifth Swiss victory was secured by soloist Max Langenegger, who was unrivaled in the H4 class in his Citroën Saxo VTS - but even that is not so easy with one of the smallest cars in the field of horsepower giants.
