Motorsport: Equipe Bernoise with uncertain future

Following the disappearance of the SAR (Swiss Automobile Racing Club) and the FRC (Formula Racing Club of Switzerland), the Equipe Bernoise has mutated into the largest automobile sports association in the small country without its own race track. However, the traditional Bernese club, which has been in existence since 1964, is also plagued by worries - not of a financial nature, but of a personnel nature. With just over 420 members [...]

With just over 420 members, the number of like-minded people from all over Switzerland has remained constant compared to 2015, but the Board of Directors has now shrunk to four people. At the 52nd Annual General Meeting, outgoing President Beat Weber was able to present his successor in the person of Thomas Gerber to the 112 fellow club members and some guests in attendance. At the same time, however, he had to admit that it had not been possible to find a replacement for the second departing member of the Board, Stefan Würgler: "Financially, we are in a good position. But without a Board, Equipe Bernoise won't be around for much longer!" The reproach is directed above all at the younger members, who are happy to take advantage of the benefits of membership and take part in club events, but do nothing in return and leave the work to the older members.

Danny Krieg is club champion of the 2015 season
The last act of the 2015 racing season followed an anxious look into the future, with Danny Krieg celebrating as club champion ahead of Thierry Kilchenmann and Thomas Zürcher. Danny Krieg finished the Swiss Slalom Championship in second place in his Audi A4 STW. He is clearly aiming for the title again next season, although he will be joined by the now three-time slalom champion Martin Bürki in the infernal VW Polo. Thierry Kilchenmann also had to settle for the runner-up title in the OPC Challenge with the Adam S, but Thomas Zürcher dominated the Renault Clio Classic Cup. Caroline Schenk, who invests countless hours in her hobby as an official, received the President's Coupe.
