Motorsport: The cards are reshuffled

This time everything was done right: Philip Egli was unbeatable with his proven Formula 3 Dallara on the Frauenfeld Allmend.

A week ago, he made several mistakes in the slalom in Bière, but on Sunday at the Frauenfeld Allmend, Philip Egli lived up to his role as favorite in front of around 5,000 spectators. In both runs over 3.2 kilometers, he set the clear fastest time in his Dallara F3 and thus claimed the day's victory, as he had done last year. In second place, Marcel Maurer, who had won the SM opener in Bière in the Formula Renault Midland, again put in a strong performance.

The partially angular course clearly suited Jean-François Chariatte's small TracKing racing sports car with a one-liter motorcycle engine, so that as third overall he received full points despite the small class strength. This means that the driver from the Jura is now the sole leader in the Swiss slalom championship. However, this is likely to change on the faster courses that now follow, starting with the Interlaken slalom next Saturday.

Fastest touring car: In front of his home crowd, Manuel Santonastaso celebrated his first major victory with his car in BMW factory colors.

Surprise in the touring cars
The changeable weather, which ranged from light snowfall to sunshine, affected the events in the touring cars. So sometimes not even within one group the same conditions prevailed. Danny Krieg set the fastest time in the Audi A4 STW with all-wheel drive, but due to a gate error he received ten penalty seconds. As a result, Manuel Santonastaso from Thurgau, who was brilliantly disposed at his home race, took the overall victory in a BMW 320. Martin Bürki also put in an outstanding performance, achieving the fifth-best overall time of all touring cars in a borrowed VW Polo with only 1400 cubic capacity. From Interlaken onwards, he will be back on the grid with his usual 1600cc Polo. "Now the cards are reshuffled," the defending champion is convinced.
