The value of 1.888 million francs is only an approximate one and actually stands for the year 1888, the founding year of the house of Bucherer in Lucerne. The bike is the first non-bejeweled piece in Bucherer's Blue Edition, which has so far brought together special models from a wide variety of watchmakers.
Silver frame and hand beaten steel sheets
The bike was handcrafted in over 2500 hours by the Men from Bündnerbike built. The precious features: frame and hand-beaten steel sheets are sprayed silver and then coated with a varnish containing cobalt. Two safes sit in the tank, one containing a diamond ring of 5.4 carats (worth 800,000 Swiss francs), the other a priceless one-of-a-kind watch by Carl F. Bucherer.
Many parts of the noble bike are made of real gold
The bike is studded with 360 diamonds, the screws are gold plated, some parts are covered with gold. The 1,888 cc V-twin engine has 100 horsepower, the Blue Edition Harley can only be started by fingerprint. Apart from the owner, the mechanic who built the bike can still fingerprint it and the head of Bündnerbike, Jürg Ludwig Jr. personally.
Some collectors are already in the starting blocks
For the time being, the bike belongs to Jürg Bucherer, company boss and petrolhead, who owns a veritable Bucherer car collection in Lucerne. The bike is now touring as a showpiece to London and various other locations. Whether it will ever be sold is not yet certain, but collectors are already waiting in the wings.
