The short video looks back at the first edition of the FIA Motorsport Games in Rome in November 2019.

The FIA Motorsport Games, which are being held for the second time, will take place in the south of France. However, not as planned this year from October 23 to 25, but from October 22 to 24, 2021.

Marseille remains the host city. The racing competitions will be held at the Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet, around 50 kilometers away.

Scope for other racing series
The reason for this is not that the organizers of SRO (which also organizes GT3 series worldwide) feared an extension of the bans on major events or ongoing travel restrictions. Rather, the postponement of one year is intended to ease the financial burden on interested teams and drivers. The national associations that nominate the participants will also not be under pressure, especially as there will probably only be a few selective races by then.

In addition, the fourth weekend of October 2020 and the popular and versatile race track can be kept free for another purpose. Due to the necessary postponement of several championship races to the fall, this gives some leeway to avoid scheduling conflicts between similar racing series.

More disciplines and more nations will make the FIA Motorsport Games 2021 a competition with an Olympic character. Switzerland will also be represented.

Expansion of the disciplines
In addition to the six disciplines that were held around the Vallelunga race track near Rome last year, nine more will be added. For example, rallying will be added to the program.

Two competitions are also planned for teams with historic rally cars. The GT3 remains the premier class, in which a winner will be sought in both the professional and gentleman racer categories.

For kart drivers, there will be a sprint and an endurance test in addition to slalom. There will also be two new off-road categories, divided into junior and senior classifications.

Swiss medal chances on the circuit, in simracing and on the mountain
A week ago, the FIA Hill Climbs Masters in Portugal, which also has an Olympic character, was postponed by twelve months to the second weekend in October 2021.

A strong Swiss delegation can be expected at the Games on the circuit and in sim racing, as well as at the Masters on the mountain in 2021. As at the Olympic Games, medal sets are awarded and a national ranking is drawn up at the end.
