One of the most spectacular motorsports concludes its season this weekend with the unofficial world championship. The FIA Intercontinental Drifting Cup brings together some of the world's best specialists in this scene. Among them is Yves Meyer, a Swiss driver.

Only the victory is an increase
A year ago, his star rose at this event in Tokyo when he climbed onto the podium as the surprising overall runner-up. The man from central Switzerland wants to achieve no less on the first Sunday of Advent.

Yves Meyer: "The lineup is even stronger than last year. But we traveled to Japan to achieve something. On a good day, anyone can beat anyone. After being second in 2018, I want to win. But one mistake and you're out."

Yves Meyer is ready for one last big deed this year. The Toyota GT86 was specially prepared for the event in Japan.

A practically new Toyota GT86
Technically, the motorsport team from Seelisberg has prepared as never before. Instead of using the BMW F22 Eurofighter, as Meyer used it in the Drift Kings Europe Series and at the FIA Motorsport Games, the Toyota GT86 from the Seelisberg fleet will be used.

Toyota Switzerland officially supports the project. With the help of Helftec engineering in Hildisrieden, the car was virtually completely rebuilt.

Yves Meyer: "Our car is like new. Nothing else should break. We should be spared the defect witch, like recently in Greece and Vallelunga."

Under the front hood is a 650-hp 6.2-liter V8 engine (LS7) from Corvette. This is not as powerful as the BMW engine, but the car is lighter, more agile and more aggressive.

Ideal race track
The racing no longer takes place in a district of Tokyo, but on the Tsukuba Circuit. The circuit, which is only two kilometers long, is ideal for such events and is therefore often booked for events by tuners and drifters. Tsukuba also appears in some video games.

The complete event can be viewed on the official Facebook channel FIA Intercontinental Drifting Cup or on the specially set up website.

The animation shows what the ideal line must look like for the drifters on the Tsukuba Circuit in order to score maximum points.
