24H Series: Double lead for Martin Kroll

TOURING CARS After the first two 24-hour races in Dubai and Silverstone, Martin Kroll is leading two touring car championships in the 24H Series. Hofor Racing from Eggenwil, with its new Mercedes-AMG GT3, technically supported by Widberg Motorsport, won all the championship titles in the international 24-hour series of the Dutch event agency Creventic last year.

This year, defending the title will be difficult. At the season opener in Dubai, the precious Mercedes-AMG GT3 was wrecked in an accident. Martin Kroll, together with two Germans and two Austrians, pulled the chestnuts out of the fire for the family team with class victory on a newly acquired BMW M235i Racing Cup.

This car is the winning car from the VLN 2016 and 2017, which Martin Kroll bought. With his driving skills, VLN double champion Michael Schrey continues to support the team. For logistical reasons, Bonk Motorsport from Germany will be doing the driving.

Hard-earned class win at Silverstone
This also paid off last weekend at the 24 Hours of Silverstone, the opening race of the 24H TCE Series. After two class wins, Martin Kroll and his four teammates lead the drivers' standings in the Intercontinental Championship, which included Dubai, and in the European Championship (after the first race in England).

Martin Kroll: "The race at Silverstone was very tedious. Because of the new track surface, you could hardly see where it was wet and where it was dry. Often you had the wrong tires. Because of the many rides into the botany and gravel beds, the track was completely filthy. But if you win and collect the full points, it's still fun."

The BMW that won in the VLN in 2016 and 2017 with Michael Schrey now belongs to Martin Kroll and already has two victories under its belt again.

Skilled handling of horsepower
Martin is the younger brother of Michael Kroll, with whom he founded the successful long-distance private team. Of all the family members, Martin Kroll knows best how to handle horsepower - after all, he runs a nationally recognized equestrian center in Eggenwil.

Why did he buy this particular BMW?

Martin Kroll: "I like it, and I wanted a car with history. The BMW is ideal for the Creventic series. Schrey also knows it inside out and therefore brings a lot to the team. After this good start to the season, we are now naturally aiming to win the championship."

The team races under the applicant license of Hofor Racing powered by Bonk Motorsport. Supported by Küpperracing, Hofor will continue to race in the VLN in 2018 with the two BMW M3s from the SP6 class. How things will look for the GT3 team in the 24H Series, on the other hand, is still uncertain.
