Lamborghini factory driver Mirko Bortolotti put GRT Grasser Racing's Lamborghini Huracan GT3 on the best starting position of the 91 teams with a new record lap on the 5.39 km Dubai Circuit. Two of his partners on the car are brothers Rolf and Mark Ineichen, who won this race once four years ago, then with a Porsche 911 from Stadler Motorsport.

The second-best Swiss on the grid is Ricardo Feller (17), who is also the youngest in the entire field. GT Champion Markus Winkelhock set the fifth-best time with the Audi R8 LMS.

On starting position 7 is the second GRT Lamborghini, in which Mark Ineichen, Mauro Calamia and Christoph Lenz take turns at the wheel. They are also second in the A6-Am class, immediately followed by the Herberth Porsche with Daniel Allemann and the Hofor Mercedes. Allemann celebrated overall victory last year, while Hofor Racing won the 2017 24H Series championship standings in all classifications with its Mercedes-AMG GT3.

Fach Auto Tech's two Porsche 911s finished first and second in their 991-Am and 991-Pro classes, while Philip Ellis from Zug set the fastest time in the GT4 class with new Phoenix Audi R8s.
