Renault: The ship is a Seine streamers

Black Swan
Two-hour excursions are offered on the zero-emission motorboat Black Swan.

After being used in cars, the batteries are given a second life on the excursion ship. With this example, the partners Renault, Seine Alliance and Green-Vision demonstrate how sustainable circular economy and the networking of different mobility providers can be implemented.

Pioneer of a new generation
The Black Swan is the prototype for an entire fleet of purely electric motorboats that Renault partner Seine Alliance plans to gradually put into service. By 2024, the river cruise provider plans to electrify its entire fleet.

The Black Swan is thus also the forerunner of a new generation of boats that will benefit from the linkage and synergies between the Renault Group and the battery system specialist Green-Vision.

Black Swan
The lithium-ion batteries are located in cases under the side bench seats of the boat.

Excursions for groups
The emission-free motorboat Black Swan is used for around two-hour excursions for groups of up to eight people. Afterwards, the energy storage units are recharged within two to three hours.

The lithium-ion batteries originally used in Renault electric vehicles have been reconfigured for their intended use. They are housed in four specially made, waterproof Inox cases under the side bench seats and together weigh 278 kilograms.

Maximum speed limit
Two battery packs each supply one of the two electric propeller nacelles, so-called pod drives. The nominal power is 10 kW and 20 kW respectively under maximum load. This allows the Black Swan to reach the maximum speed on water in the Paris metropolitan area.

There is no need for an additional outboard or spare internal combustion engine, as both pod drives operate independently.
