Auction: In Toffen the hammer falls again 🎥

WHERE YOU MEET Two auctions had to be cancelled by the Oldtimer Galerie Toffen due to the crisis, so the expectations for the autumn auction are correspondingly high. The offer is this time as broad as still seldom. Besides the pretzel beetle from 1952, various other rarities will be shown. Over 120 lots will come on Saturday, October 17, 2020, [...]

In addition to the Pretzel Beetle from 1952, various other rarities will be on display.

Over 120 lots will go under the hammer on Saturday, October 17, 2020, starting at 1:30 p.m. with a live audience on site. However, it is planned that only 275 bidders can haggle on site. These must register before the auction by email. The exact modalities are documented in the catalog or on the website of the auction house.

Of course, all other interested parties have several channels at their disposal for bidding: Internet, written pre-bids or bidding by telephone call.

The average amount per lot is 60,000 francs
In addition to some automobilia, just over 100 cars, eleven two-wheelers, two bicycles and even a truck will come under the hammer. The total value of the automobiles (including trucks ) and motorcycles is around 6.7 million Swiss francs; almost 60,000 Swiss francs are therefore expected here per lot.

Vehicles are almost 46 years old on average
Over 40 brands will be represented at the auction. The strongest presence will be cars from Mercedes-Benz (1 ), followed by Jaguar (12) and Alfa Romeo with eight vehicles.

All other brands are represented with no more than half a dozen cars, for example Ford with six, Ferrari, Lancia, VW and Chevrolet with four each, and BMW, Fiat, Rolls-Royce or Triumph with three cars each.

Super classics non-stop
Those looking for top class classics will find a rich selection. It is led by a Lamborghini Miura P400 from 1968 in the color "Blu Miura". The father of super sports cars still fascinates today as he did then, and the estimated value is accordingly high at 1.45 to 1.65 million Swiss francs.

The Aston Martin DB4 from 1961 is hardly less desirable. Its breathtaking elegance still amazes today. 435,000 to 465,000 are estimated.

The Alfa Romeo 1900 C Super Sprint Touring was one of the fastest cars in 1955. And it was pretty, too. No wonder it is one of the most sought-after four-cylinder cars of the Milanese brand today. 255,000 to 275,000 should be enough to get your hands on the red coupe.

And these were only three of the two dozen or so super classics on offer at Toffen, mention must also be made of the 1973 Maserati Bora 4.9, the 1977 Ferrari 308 GTB Vetroresina or the red 1973 Alfa Romeo Montreal can.

Suitable model for summer 2021
32 open and semi-open cars will also come under the hammer, the majority of which are classic convertibles, but there are also more rustic roadsters (like the MG TC) or Targas (like the Ferrari 308 GTS, the Porsche 911 SC Targa or the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am). Whether you're more into British, Italian, American or German cars, there are open-top sedans and sports cars from each of these countries at the start of the third weekend in October.

To mention a few examples, the 1957 Ford Thunderbird (55,000 to 65,000 francs), the 1952 Jaguar XK120 OTS (85,000 to 95,000 francs) or the 1978 Alfa Romeo Spider 2000 (24,000 to 26,000 francs).

Here are particularly rare exotics
Anyone who knows the auctions in Toffen knows that very rare exotics always come under the hammer. These do not always have to be extremely expensive cars, but they are usually those that are hardly ever seen on the road.

The Triumph 1800 Roadster from 1947 was already a rarity back then, but today it is even more so. The red roadster is said to cost 25,000 to 35,000.

Carrosserie Langenthal is unlikely to have dressed too many Dodge. A D8 Cabriolet Langenthal from 1938 is on the lot list for 45 000 to 55 000 francs.

At the end of the sixties, the Ford Cortina was the most popular car in Great Britain, but today the copies of the second series are rarely seen.

Even rarer are two-door versions of the Cortina 1600 E with particularly extensive equipment and the GT engine. The gold-colored car with Swiss history from 1970 should now find a new enthusiast for 10,000 to 15,000 francs.

Even a Renault Espace is m offer
We all know the MG brand, but NG? The small manufacturer built rustic roadsters in the style of the MG TC/TD based on MGB at the time. There should not be many, the certainly rare example from 1969 should pass into new hands for 16 000 and 18 000.

And when was the last time you saw an early Renault Espace at auction?

Auction
This pretzel beetle from 1952 is expected to fetch 60,000 to 70,000 francs. One will see.

To have is also a rare pretzel beetle
Switzerland is known to be a Beetle country, so of course the Wolfsburg crawler can never be missing in Toffen. The three examples on offer cover a broad spectrum, as a yellow VW Beetle 1300 Cabriolet from 1972 (22,000 to 25,000 Swiss francs), a 1500 Automatic from 1969 (15,000 and 18,000 Swiss francs) and a Pretzel Beetle from 1952 (60,000 to 70,000 Swiss francs) will go under the hammer.

The range is therefore as wide as it has ever been, both in terms of vehicle types, brands and designs, but also in terms of prices. It is best to take a closer look at the catalog.

More information about the individual vehicles, pictures and videos are available on the website.
