Museums preserve treasures and thus make an important contribution to cultural life. However, the Porsche Museum not only lives historical communication in a throwback way, but also transports the values of the brand into the present.

On the occasion of the 44th International Museum Day, a digital visit to the museum has been possible since May 16. Interested visitors can take a virtual tour of the special show "25 Years of the Boxster".

Origin and experience in automotive engineering

Achim Stejskal, Head of Heritage and Porsche Museum: "Changing times require new thinking. We have long been exploring digital paths and using modern channels to show Porsche's origins and experience in automotive engineering. In order to proactively carry the history work from Porscheplatz in Zuffenhausen into the world, digital diversity is important."

The online guided tour presents all Boxster models, ancestors and relatives on display in the special show in videos. Visitors can navigate themselves through the tour.

The centerpiece of the show is a Boxster study
One of the highlights of the special show is the Boxster study, which was presented in Detroit in 1993 and from which the first series was produced in 1996. In addition, spectators will gain insights into the legendary 550 Spyder, the ultra-light, mid-engine predecessor designed for racing.

Another exhibit is the Porsche 914/4 from 1975, one of the most built two-seaters with almost 120,000 units built. Using a cutaway model of the first Boxster with the type number 986, the museum demonstrates the new development of the water-cooled boxer engine.

To mark the anniversary, Porsche launched the Boxster 25 Years special model at the beginning of this year (gallery, left). This homage to the 1993 study is limited to 1250 units worldwide.
