O-iO, will take place this year in a slightly different form. Events are planned for Saturday, May 22, in Sarnen and Whit Sunday, May 23, in Meiringen. In the scene of the historical vehicles, planning reliability is also not given in 2021 due to Corona - especially not in the first half of the year.
Search for sponsors becomes more and more difficult
Many events are therefore postponed to the second half of the year. However, as early as 2020, it became apparent that numerous dates had to be cancelled completely. For this reason, some organizers preferred to take a break in the current year and thus avoid the great time and financial effort. Finally, sponsors are also becoming increasingly difficult to find.
Organizer found a solution for the event
This means that there will be a bigger hole in events in 2021. Ruedi Müller, organizer of the O-iO, looked for and found a solution to still hold the popular event. As in the last 20 years, the event will take place at Whitsun, but in a simplified form, for example without individual rally numbers and without personalized badges. The idea is simply to meet and ride out together.
In the event that Corona was still raging in May and O-iO could not be held after all, Ruedi Müller tested whether the participants would be willing to venture a wager of 20 francs, which would be lost in the event of a cancellation.
