Swiss Classic World: Virtual on the Klausen Pass 🎥

WHERE YOU MEET The first Klausen race was held on August 27, 1922. For the ACS reason enough to put the topic at the Swiss Classic World from 27 to 29 May 2022 on the Allmend Lucerne in the center.

As a reminder: 136 curves, some of them tight, and dangerous sections alternated on the 21.5-kilometer gravel track from Linthal up to the Klausen Pass with brutally fast sections on the Urnerboden, where the race cars reached top speeds of more than 200 km/h.

Since 1934, the track record has been held by racing legend Rudolf Caracciola in a Mercedes W 25 Silver Arrow with a time of 15:22.20 minutes, which corresponds to an average speed of 83.9 kph.

Klausen Challenge for the anniversary of the race
Today, the demands on safety and infrastructure precautions hardly allow for a hillclimb race on such a long and difficult track. But virtually this can be realized thanks to simulator technology. Thus, the Swiss Racing Fuel Academy AG, with the support of the Automobile Club of Switzerland, has launched the Klausen Challenge.

At various events and in the Race Centers, the Klausen Race can be driven in the simulator (see video). The fastest qualify for the final on August 27, 2022, which will be held in parallel at the Race Café Linthal and the Museum of Transport in Lucerne. Two simulators are available at the ACS stand at Swiss Classic World. One with the circuit of the GP Monaco Historique, which is easier to drive on, and a second that lets you experience Klausen racing in its purest form.

With the Fangio-Maserati through the old Nordschleife
Under the patronage of IMAG J. Mächler AG, Akkumulatoren, and the ZüriRing Motodrom, one can start with a movable racing simulator designed with portraits of famous racing drivers (gallery below).

The traction loss module transmits unevenness in the road surface to the driver's seat. If too much throttle is applied, the vehicle breaks away and the movement at the rear axle is felt.

Tackling the legendary Eau-Rouge at full throttle in the Schumi F1 or the old Nordschleife in Juan Manuel Fangio's Maserati 250F means pure driving fun.

At the stand in Hall 1, Maseratis 1957 to 1977 and car models with legend status in 1:8 scale from Amalgam Collection will be on display for this purpose. Visitors can also look forward to a competition with attractive prizes.
