Mitsubishi: Outlander passes plug-in test

TRIAL ON THE EXEMPLARY With a long-distance test, Mitsubishi Switzerland wanted to check whether the specified standard range of up to 800 kilometers can be achieved in practice with the Outlander PHEV model. With the new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, journalist and hypermiler Felix Egolf achieved an impressive total range of 801.1 kilometers in the long-distance test. He thus confirmed the manufacturer's specifications from Mitsubishi Motors.

More than 6000 meters altitude difference
His marathon drive with the plug-in hybrid model took him from Rothenburg/LU via Salzburg to Samnaun. On one tank of gas and a fully charged lithium-ion battery, the tester covered an altitude difference of more than 6000 meters. On the topographically quite challenging route, which is representative of Swiss conditions, the Outlander achieved a 100-kilometer consumption of 5.47 liters of gasoline and 1.21 kWh of electricity on average.

Over half of the driving time purely electric
The purely electric driving share during the test was 60 percent. "We recuperated most of the energy required on downhill stretches or generated it in hybrid mode by the combustion engine. A downhill drive over 300 meters of altitude yields about one kilowatt hour," explained Felix Egolf.
The Outlander PHEV is the leader in its segment in Europe, and is also successful in Switzerland. Since its market launch, the model has found around 2,000 buyers in our country. In the technically comprehensively updated version, it is available at prices starting at 39,900 Swiss francs.
