Car purchase
If you want to buy a new car, you have to think about the right drive.

Buyers of a new car should first think about how the model will be used: Will the car be driven primarily on short trips in the city, or are 100 or more kilometers on the highway on a daily basis? Then it's a matter of choosing the optimum drive.

Diesel makes sense on long distances
The variety ranges from internal combustion engines for gasoline, diesel and natural gas (CNG) to hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery-electric to fuel cell drives. Markus Peter, Head of Technology & Environment at the AGVS: "Every drive has its justification. This applies just as much to diesel, which makes sense on long routes with many highway kilometers - in contrast to electric or hybrid drives, which score all the more on short routes or on roads in hilly regions."
Anyone who likes to go on vacation abroad in their own car should definitely take these features into account. These include, for example, fuel consumption or the infrastructure in the vacation destination in terms of charging or refueling.

Natural gas/biogas with good environmental balance
At the same time, it pays for new car buyers to be open to new things. Markus Peter: "There are drive systems that still receive too little attention. These include technologies based on natural gas/biogas drive (CNG) or fuel cells (hydrogen). Thanks to biogas, CNG in particular has a very good environmental balance sheet, and the range of vehicles available in Switzerland is considerable. Range is not a problem either, because every CNG car also has a gasoline tank."
