Hi-fi specialist Dynaudio has lavishly adapted the 700-watt sound system to the interior.

In addition, new engines and a new chassis system ensure comfort and dynamics. The countdown is on: In the spring, the Passat will break through the production sound barrier of 30 million units. Advance sales of the new model will start as early as May. Its market launch in Switzerland is planned for the end of August 2019.

New umbrella brand for assistance systems
Travel Assist IQ.DRIVE is the new umbrella brand for Volkswagen assistance systems. From now on, the technologies on the road to autonomous driving will be bundled under IQ.DRIVE. The Passat will be the first Volkswagen to be able to be driven semi-automatically with this assistance system over almost the entire speed range (0 to 210 km/h). The fact is that the Passat with its assistance systems reflects the currently largest expansion stage of IQ.DRIVE.

Networked unit with digital cockpit
The hardware and software of the MIB3 form a digitally networked unit with the new Digital Cockpit. The graphics of the display, which now has even higher contrast, are clear and of high quality. The range of functions has been raised to a new level. The three different display configurations can now be individualized with a single button on the new multifunction steering wheel.

Gasoline and diesel with particulate filter
Another highlight in the powertrain segment is the newly developed 2.0 TDI Evo - a highly efficient turbodiesel with 150 hp that produces 10 g/km less CO2 than the comparable engine in its predecessor. The 2.0 TDI Evo is regarded as the forerunner of a new generation of diesel engines. The other powertrain range includes three gasoline engines (TSI) with 150 hp, 190 hp, 272 hp and three diesels (TDI); the latter develop 120 hp, 190 hp and 240 hp. All TSI and TDI powertrains meet the Euro 6d-TEMP emissions standard. Every new Passat - whether gasoline or diesel - is equipped with a particulate filter.

Aesthetics of the digital world in the interior
In the interior, the Passat is distinguished from its predecessor by new decors and fabrics, redesigned door panels, a new trim color, new instruments and a new steering wheel. Instead of the analog clock on the dashboard, there is now an elegantly backlit Passat logo.
The new Passat will be presented to the general public in all its variants for the first time at this year's Geneva Motor Show (March 7 to 17). Available to order from May and ready for test drive from August 2019 at all VW dealers in Switzerland. Prices will be announced at the sales launch.
