Skoda drivers won the WRC2 World Rally Championship in 2016 and 2017. In the Swiss Rally Championship, Ivan Ballinari recently took his first overall victory with a Skoda Fabia R5 in France - and this was the Ticino-based Amag employee's first start with his own brand. In addition, Olivier Burri and Jérémie Toedtli have already achieved international successes.
250 special models for Switzerland
Now Skoda is celebrating the two-time World Championship title win with a special everyday model limited to 600 units worldwide. 250 copies are planned for Swiss buyers.
The Skoda Fabia R5 is the only version in the series to feature a 1.4-liter TSI gasoline engine with 125 hp. The engine is coupled to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and enables a top speed of 203 km/h.
It can sprint to 100 km/h in 8.8 seconds. The equipment includes a lowered sports suspension, 17-inch wheels, the Amundsen infotainment navigation system, heated sports seats partly upholstered in Alcantara, and a sports steering wheel.
The Fabia R5 also offers Skoda Connect services free of charge for three years, adaptive cruise control, rearview camera and keyless entry system.
The special model is available in candy white with a roof painted in black magic pearl effect and matte black applications. It can be identified by the black foil on the tailgate and the "Edition R5" badges at the rear and on the rear wheel arches. In addition, the "WRC 2 Champion" sticker on the front fenders indicates this.
From May at Swiss dealers
In Switzerland, the Fabia R5 will be available from Skoda dealers from May. The net purchase price with Clever Bonus (2000 francs) is 23,990 francs.
