The Mégane R.S. Trophy-R will be available in a limited edition in Switzerland from the end of 2019.
The Mégane R.S. Trophy-R is powered by the 1.8-liter engine with 300 hp from the Trophy version. That's 167 hp per liter of displacement! However, the professionals at Renault Sport did not look for performance in engine output alone.
Significantly less weight than the predecessor
The development is based on three axes: Weight, chassis and aerodynamics. The removal of the rear seats, the availability of carbon rims (option) and the titanium exhaust system from Akrapovič show how meticulously the engineers hunted down every gram. In total, the Trophy-R weighs 130 kilos less than the Mégane R.S. Trophy - without options, of course.
Traction due to optimized chassis
A larger front negative camber, a lighter rear H-suspension design, adjustable Öhlins shock absorbers, Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires co-developed with Renault Sport and high-performance brakes ensure maximum grip. And as an option: Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes.
Shrouds on the underbody and a carbon rear diffuser optimize airflow and provide more downforce. Additional air intakes and air ducts to the brakes keep thermals under control.
Lap record on the Nordschleife
The work of the specialists is also reflected in the lap times. Renault broke the lap record on the Nürburgring Nordschleife with the Mégane R.S. Trophy-R. It completed the legendary 20.6 kilometers in 07'40''100. 07'45''389 is also a new reference time for the complete lap.
Prices for the fast Frenchman have not yet been set.
