The functional test was another important milestone on the way to the factory entry into the 2019/20 ABB FIA Formula E Championship. The first drive with the newly developed all-electric Porsche drivetrain went without incident. It provided valuable insights that will help the motorsport engineers to prepare the vehicle for its first Formula E race in the coming months as part of intensive testing.
A first step
The Porsche race director is satisfied with the first test.
Fritz Enzinger: "The newly developed Porsche drivetrain has passed its baptism of fire. We still have a lot of work ahead of us on the way to our entry into Formula E, but we have now taken an important first step."
Great feeling
The Porsche works driver from Biel felt proud to be able to complete the rollout.
Neel Jani: "It was not only a great honor, but also very exciting. We are breaking new ground here. It's a great feeling. Everyone in the team feels that the project is now really taking off. Of course, we haven't gone to the limit yet, but the drivetrain and the vehicle make a very good first impression overall. I can hardly wait to continue the test work."
