Last year, Jean-Eric Vergne competed in a race against a cheetah in South Africa. After the eventual champion's narrow victory against the world's fastest land animal, fans on social media called for a rematch - but this time against an even tougher challenger. The wish came true.

The fastest bird versus the fastest electric vehicle
This time, former GP winner Felipe Massa faced a peregrine falcon that can reach speeds of up to 350 km/h in a dive. The duel took place in a desert 90 kilometers southwest of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ad Diriyah. The fifth Formula E season 2018/19 starts there next weekend with the Brazilian as one of the newcomers.

The bird of prey set its sights on a decoy attached to the roll bar of the new Gen2 vehicle. Massa always kept his animal pursuer in the rear-view mirror while driving.

This spectacular video shows how Felipe Massa's first "race" in Formula E ended. Like his feathered opponent, he certainly had a lot of fun.
