Fabienne: "Fortunately I have a plan B" 🎥

W SERIES 2020 CANCELLED The organizers of the W Series will not be able to stage their women's racing series again until 2021. Fabienne Wohlwend is affected by this. Fabienne Wohlwend is the most famous motor sportswoman from the Principality of Liechenstein. She is introduced in the W Series video.

For this year, the W Series program had been expanded from six to eight events as part of the DTM and Formula 1. The Corona pandemic scuppered all plans and prompted the British organizers not to stage the one-off race series for women again until 2021 due to the uncertainty of replacement dates.

In its belated second year, the W Series is set to become even bigger and better, for example with two races at the US and Mexican Grand Prix. This year's finale was to have been held at the circuit in the Mexican capital.

Secure starting place for 2021
As the only German speaker in the elite field of 18 qualified women from all over the world, Fabienne Wohlwend is affected. In sixth place overall, the Liechtensteiner earned 80,000 dollars in prize money last year. For 2020, she had set her sights on a place on the championship podium, which would have increased her prize money.

At least they all already know that they can be part of it again next year.

Fabienne Wohlwend: "I suspected that the cancellation would come. I can understand it, even if it is extremely unfortunate. On the positive side, we've already been assured a place on the grid for 2021, so we can already plan."

Not until next year will the neo-pro athlete return to the Tatuus Formula 3 cockpit in the W Series.

First year as a professional
For the 22-year-old from Schellenberg, this was the worst possible start to her first season as a professional racer. Last October, she gave up her job as a banker to concentrate on racing.

Fabienne Wohlwend: "Last year I was on the road the whole of June, now I'm at home all the time. I've never been in a racing car since October! I've just worked more on my fitness now, but I really miss driving."

The seat test at Octane126 is done. Soon we'll be taking the Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo to the race track.

Interesting new Ferrari race calendar
After all, she won't be out of a job despite the cancellation of the W Series. As in previous years, the 2018 Women's World Champion will compete for Octane126 from Wallisellen in the Ferrari Challenge. Like last year in the top Pro category.

The European series starts on the first weekend in July in Imola and then includes Ferrari Weekends at Barcelona, Portimão, Mugello, Spa and Misano at intervals of two to four weeks. The world finale is scheduled for November 4-7 in Abu Dhabi.

Fabienne Wohlwend: "I am very lucky that there is this plan B for me and that I can start for Octane126 again. A mega achievement by Ferrari to set up this new calendar."

No atmosphere in the stands
The only downer is that, like all circuit races in the next two or three months, the race will have to be held in camera. No tifosi and no Ferrari flags in the grandstands - this will dampen the mood somewhat.

Fabienne Wohlwend: "That will be special. There will also be fewer people per car at the race track. Nevertheless, I'm extremely looking forward to it. With open borders to Italy before the first race, I hope I can now still test in Imola with the new Evo package that all Ferrari 488s receive."

A Ferrari with suggested eyelashes over the lights. When Fabienne Wohlwend drives it, she doesn't give men presents.
