In the first 85 laps of the 12 Hours of Mugello on Friday, the Ferrari 488 GT3 of Scuderia Praha led the field of 54 cars unchallenged. The Ferrari also remained in front at the restart for the further nine hours at 9 a.m. on Saturday. After reaching the 100-lap mark, the Lamborghini of Barwell Motorsport, on which Adrian Amstutz was one of the three drivers, took command for a short time.

Two Swiss on the overall winners' podium
Thanks to a successful pit stop strategy and problems with competitors, the Ferrari trio of Isarik/Kral/Malucelli was able to build a three-lap lead as the race progressed. Despite intermittent problems with the fuel supply, the Barwell Lamborghini drove to second place in its first appearance of 2019.

Also strong was the performance of Herberth Motorsport with Daniel Allemann from Solothurn and three Germans, who improved from P7 at the restart to third overall in their Porsche 991 GT3 R.

The highlights of the race shows this video:

Hofor Racing wins twice
It was only in the closing stages of the half-marathon that the former 24H Series champions Michael Kroll, Alex Prinz, Kenneth Heyer (D) and Christiaan Frankenhout (NL) prevailed in Hofor Racing's Mercedes-AMG GT3. Car Collection's Audi R8 LMS was still leading in the final hour of the race before its final driver had to admit defeat 15 minutes before the end after a great overtaking maneuver by Frankenhout.

Michael Kroll's brother Martin was also allowed to cheer. Hofor Racing by Bonk Motorsport started their title defense in the 24H TCE Series with the new BMW M4 GT4 (drivers are Martin Kroll, Michael Schrey, Michael Fischer and Thomas Jäger) also with the class win.

What a start to the season for a new team: Autorama Motorsport leads all 24H Series classifications with its VW Golf GTI TCR after two season victories.

Autorama Golf in front again
The team from Autorama Motorsport by Wolf-Power Racing was able to cheer for the second time in the still young season. This time, Fabian Danz was the only Swiss driver on the VW Golf GTI TCR from Wetzikon, alongside Jan Sorensen and Kristian Jepsen. How the second victory after the 24 Hours of Dubai in January came about is described by one of the two Danes.

Jan Sorensen: "It was a very tough race because the chasers were always close behind. In second place at the intermediate finish on Friday, we initially fell far behind on Saturday morning. We already thought all was lost. Fortunately, all the teams seemed to have problems with the tires or other things. That allowed us to move up to fourth place and then all the way to the front."

Impressive result: Four of the eight class wins went to Swiss teams.

Reward for the Ticino
After an exciting race, victory in the SP3 class went to the Cayman GT4 Clubsport of Amag First Centri Porsche Ticino. For company boss Ivan Jacoma and his colleagues Valerio Presezzi, Matteo Arrigosi, and Ivan Reggiani, this was a nice consolation for the bad luck in Dubai, where the Ticino team had to forgo the start due to technical problems.
