Maserati: First kilometers with the Blitz Grecale 🎥

FULLY ELECTRIC The Grecale SUV is now also available from Maserati in the all-electric Folgore version. In addition, the mild hybrid models and the Trofeo with the 3-liter V6 Nettuno remain in the range.

One of the challenges for Maserati in electrifying the Grecale was to combine the SUV body concept with the electric drive. In addition, the new battery-powered Grecale had to be immediately recognizable as a Maserati in line with the brand philosophy - and not as an easily confused electric vehicle with an alternative look.

There are numerous new materials inside

With a length of 4.87 meters, the small SUV model from Maserati is just 13 centimeters shorter than its big brother, the Levante. The special Folgore front grille features glossy black inserts on a lightly anodized black base, while the front splitter, door handles, window frames and side sills are also finished in glossy black. Depending on the market and equipment line, the electric Grecale is supplied with 19-, 20- or 21-inch Aero wheels.

There are numerous new materials in the interior. The carbon copper embossed pattern with 3D haptics on the dashboard and door panels is typical. The electrically adjustable sports seats with Econyl covers in black and brown can be heated and ventilated.

In addition to the new all-electric Grecale Folgore, the gasoline versions are also still on offer.

Two engines deliver 410 kW and 820 Nm

The Grecale Folgore shares the platform with the Giulia and Stelvio models from Stellantis' sister brand Alfa Romeo. However, the wheelbase is 2.90 meters - eight centimeters longer than that of Alfa. The 105 kWh battery pack is now housed between the axles. In order to achieve good driving performance, two identical permanent magnet motors are installed in the Grecale, which lead to a maximum system output of 410 kW (557 hp) and, with a maximum torque of 820 Nm, accelerate the almost 2.5-ton car from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. Maserati states a top speed of 220 km/h.

Folgore customers receive the car with the all-inclusive offer for home and public charging. This includes a wallbox that delivers a charging capacity of between 3 and 22 kW. The Public Charge app enables customers to find charging points and manage charging processes via smartphone.

Sound is a special challenge

For Maserati, traditionally known for its unobtrusive V8 sound, the electric drive poses a particular challenge. As could be heard during the first test drives, the solution to this problem has been a success. The sound tinkerers found a suitable compromise between boring space sound and synthetic imitation of the combustion engine sound.

400 kilowatts provide the powerful thrust

In addition to the normal GT mode, Sport, Offroad and Max Range are also available. The driving modes are selected via a rotary switch on the steering wheel. The blue start button is also located on the steering wheel, and the driving direction is selected using a pushbutton on the center console. The degree of recuperation is set using the long shift paddles on the steering column. In Max Range economy mode, the top speed is reduced to 130 km/h, the response of the accelerator pedal is reduced and the power of the air conditioning system is limited. In Sport mode, the weight of the vehicle is no longer very noticeable - the 400 kilowatts of power provide a powerful boost, the steering is very precise and provides good feedback from the road. The Blitz-Grecale costs from 135,400 Swiss francs.
