What the pilots will experience during a virtual ride up the Klausen Pass is shown curve by curve in the video.

No other mountain course fascinated spectators and racers as much as the 21.5-kilometer race course, which leads over 1948 meters of altitude. From 1922 to 1934, the best male and female racers in the world met to compete on the Klausen Pass.

The teams were often pushed to their limits by the length of the race track, the nature of the road at high altitude, but also by the sometimes difficult climatic conditions.

Klausen race
Until the virtual Klausen Race, interested parties can sign up for the Klausen Race Challenge 2021-2022.

Rudolf Caracciola drove historic record time
On July 25, 1993, the Klausen Races experienced a rebirth. After 1998, 2002 and 2006, the International Klausen Race was held for the last time in 2013.

Highlights of the races at that time were certainly the drive of Roland Asch on a Mercedes-Benz W25 up to the Klausen Pass, accompanied by the typical compressor howl (gallery left). In 1934, Rudolf Caracciola drove a Mercedes-Benz W25 (start no. 65) to the historic record time of 15 minutes and 22 seconds on the race track of the time, mostly on gravel roads (center gallery).

The Klausen race from 1922 to 1934 was by far the best known and most difficult mountain race of that time.

Mercedes-Benz W25 or an Auto-Union type C
On August 27, 2022, the 100th anniversary of the Klausen Race will take place. Unfortunately without spectators, roaring racing cars and their pilots. People meet and start on the Internet.

RacingFuel Academy AG, in cooperation with the ACS section Glarus, the tourist associations Glarus and Uri, the SwissCar Register as well as the Museum of Transport Lucerne, is conducting the first virtual Klausen race with the Worlds fastet simulators.

Two tracks - gravel track like back then or paved roads like today - and more than 100 racing cars for example the Mercedes-Benz W25 or an Auto-Union Type C (gallery on the right) are available.

Wani Finkbohner, Managing Director and founder of RacingFuel Academy AG: "We spent more than 1,000 hours of work over the course of a year collecting data from the Klausen race."

Preparation with the Klausen Race Challenge
Until the event, racers can sign up for the 2021-2022 Klausenrennen Challenge at Racingfuel Academy partner centers and prepare for 2022.

Interesting prizes can be won, for example a voucher for a weekend worth 310 Swiss francs (overnight stay for two in a suite, including breakfast) at the Hotel Klausenpass.
