Véronique and Philippe Siffert at the vernissage: they only know their father from photographs and are particularly happy about this exhibition.

Anyone who thinks they already know everything about the two-time GP winner will certainly be proven wrong. Jean-Claude Fontana accompanied his famous friend from the beginning of his career until his death. The man from Fribourg captured countless moments in photographs that show "Seppi" from his human side: as a racing driver, husband, father, son and friend.

On July 7, 2016, Jo Siffert would have celebrated his 80th birthday
25 years ago, one of Jo Siffert's best friends, the artist Jean Tinguely, also from Fribourg, died. Due to this anniversary, there are various events in Fribourg in 2016. The photo exhibition "I called him Seppi" in the Cantonal and University Library is dedicated to the two personalities. Around 80 black-and-white photographs from Jean-Claude Fontana's private archive are on display. Most of them show Jo Siffert, who could have celebrated his 80th birthday on July 7, 2016, if he had survived the accident at Brands Hatch in October 1971.

The unique exhibition closes on September 10
At the vernissage, his children Véronique and Philippe were among the guests. They were touched by the almost intimate photographs, Véronique Siffert: "It's nice that this exhibition exists. After all, we only know our father from photos, and these shots by Fontana are very special." Admission to the exhibition is free and it is open on weekdays until September 10 - except during the summer vacations from July 11 to 23. More information and photos in the June issue of AutoSprintCH.
