Iveco puts itself at the forefront of sustainability with the first van to meet the 2020 Euro 6 RDE emissions standard and was named Van of the Year 2018.

With the Daily Blue Power, the Italian manufacturer offers a choice of powerful drive units such as the 2.3-liter diesel Euro 6 RDE (Real Driving Emissions), the 3.0-liter natural gas engine (Natural Power) with automated Hi-Matic transmission and the improved Electric Daily. By offering no less than three forward-looking drive technologies suitable for series production, Iveco is once again proving that the full-range supplier is right at the forefront when it comes to "sustainable transport" with its light commercial vehicles (LCVs).

IVOTY permanent guest The announcement and presentation of the newly designed trophy took place on November 22 at a gala event during Solutrans 2017 in Lyon, attended by 1500 representatives of the European commercial vehicle industry. Commenting on the award, an elated Iveco brand president Pierre Lahutte said: "In its 40th anniversary year, the Daily has been named International Van of the Year for the third time. In addition to the product, this award also recognizes our tremendous efforts to contribute decisively to the fight for cleaner air in our cities and the reduction of CO2 emissions. The Daily Blue Power is the first and only vehicle to offer three options already prepared for future access restrictions in inner cities. This secures customers' investments and gives them the competitive edge they need to develop their sustainable business."

Best in space, comfort and performance Every two years, part of the international Van of the Year jury tests current pickups in comparative drives on challenging terrain and then awards the "International Pick-up Award" (IPUA). In the fourth edition, the two established models Toyota Hilux and VW Amarok competed against the two newcomers Renault Alaskan and Mercedes-Benz X-Class in Transylvania. The Volkswagen Amarok finally came out on top this time. It impressed with the widest range of engines - it is also the only one in Europe to be powered exclusively by a V6 diesel - its spaciousness, and a number of technical enhancements. The "Pick-up Award 2018" was also presented at Solutrans.

"The jury members selected the Amarok V6 for best all-rounder in a very close competition. The awards were based on powertrain efficiency, cargo volume and capacity, driver and passenger comfort and safety aspects, and low total cost of ownership from a business perspective," said Jarlath Sweeney, chairman of the international Van of the Year jury at the awards ceremony.
