Fuel: Bürgin Transport uses natural gas

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY Beat Bürgin, head of Bürgin Transport AG, relies on Scania G410 trucks powered by natural gas. Beat, Lea and Thomas Bürgin are making a contribution to reducing CO2 emissions with their trucks.

Originally, Beat Bürgin had ordered a diesel: "Then the sales consultant told me about tests with new gas vehicles. The man was convinced by the Euro 6 gas engine OC13 and he transferred this enthusiasm to me."

Engines of the trucks produce 410 hp each
Beat Bürgin immediately changed his order and additionally ordered an articulated truck with the 13-liter engine. The 410 hp unit provides 2000 Nm of torque at 1100 to 1400 rpm. Beat Bürgin: "This power is practically identical to that of a diesel engine."

CNG
The Bürgin trucks are mainly used regionally. The range of the vehicles is suitable for everyday use.

Reduction of CO2 emissions
Technically, the engine can run on CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) or LNG (Liquid Natural Gas). Beat Bürgin opts for CNG: "We have a filling station on our doorstep and obtain natural gas at the same place where others fill up with diesel. The engines make it possible to reduce CO2 emissions by 15 to 90 percent, depending on the fuel - fossil natural gas, biogas or a mix."

Fueled by 100 percent biogas
Bürgin Transporte AG is completely CO2-neutral on the road with its Scania trucks. This is made possible by the energy certificates of SH Power, the energy supply company of Schaffhausen and Neuhausen am Rheinfall: What the drivers draw from the natural gas filling station, SH Power feeds into the grid as 100 percent biogas. Perfect.
