The production of cars began at Seat with 925 people - today there are more than 15 000.

In recent years, the former problem child in the Volkswagen Group has developed into a model boy and an internationally successful brand. That's why AutoSprintCH also wishes "¡Feliz cumpleaños!" ("Happy Birthday!").

Leading exporter of the country
Since its first vehicle export to Colombia in 1965, Seat has become Spain's leading industrial exporter. Today, the company sells 80 percent of its vehicles to countries as diverse as New Zealand, Mexico and French Guiana, accounting for almost three percent of all Spanish exports.

Anniversary
The Seat 1400 was powered by a four-cylinder gasoline engine (44 hp, top speed 116 km/h).

Start with five vehicles a day
The company was founded on May 9, 1950, but it took another three years before the first car was produced. Seat opened its first production plant in the Zona Franca near Barcelona in 1953 with 925 employees.

Initially, five vehicles of the 1400 model were produced on the day, a licensed model based on the Fiat of the same name. Over the next 40 years, the 600 and the 127 also rolled off the production line there. In 1993, production then moved to a new, larger and more modern plant in Martorell.

Anniversary
The Seat 600 was a two-door small car with rear engine, introduced in 1957.

Investment of 1.47 billion euros
Following an investment of 1.47 billion euros, the second generation of the Ibiza and the Cordoba were manufactured there - the production rate at the time was 1500 vehicles per day.

Seat currently produces in the following locations: Barcelona, El Prat de Llobregat and Martorell. In addition, the brand produces the Ateca in the Czech Republic, the Tarraco in Germany and the Alhambra in Portugal, as well as the Mii electric in Slovakia.

Over 19 million vehicles to date
Over the past seven decades, Seat has produced more than 19 million vehicles and launched a total of 75 models including various versions and generations.

The most recent important events in the company's history are the founding of the Cupra sports brand two years ago and its status as a center of competence for micromobility for the VW Group. This makes Seat responsible for developing new strategies in the field of urban mobility products and services.

Last year, the "Urban Mobility" business unit also developed a 100 km/h electric scooter, among other things.
