Driving through France in a motor home is a dream for many - but where can you rent a suitable vehicle? A move is coming up, but where can you find a suitable van for two days? A wedding is to be organized, but which company rents equipment such as music systems or tableware? This was exactly the question that faced three young Swiss entrepreneurs independently of each other about a year and a half ago. After a seemingly endless search, they came to a decision: We turn necessity into a virtue and develop a portal where users can find a variety of items that can be rented with just one click.
No sooner said than done? It wasn't that simple. "In very elaborate conceptual work and studies, we developed a sophisticated set of specifications for our online portal rentscout within a year. Our ambition was always to create added value for the user by enabling him to find the desired rental property easily and quickly," says Reto Oschwald, co-founder of rentscout, explaining how the collaboration started together with the other two co-founders of the company, Nicholas Egloff and Blerim Nrecaj.
Three aspects were important to the trio from Ennetbaden during the development of the portal: "One reason that motivated us to develop an online portal for rental properties is the social, economic and ecological aspect. In today's world, industry thrives on the fast-moving nature of its products. In most cases, however, the price is paid by the environment. With a multiple use of products, environmental resources can be saved. In addition, a win-win situation is created for the tenant and landlord," says Reto Oschwald.
rentscout.ch is unique in Switzerland
Another motivating factor for the three young entrepreneurs was to create a product for the Swiss market that did not yet exist in this form. Transparency is to be created so that users can directly compare offers with each other. Also high-quality and larger products are offered on rentscout.ch for renting. Whether storage containers, mobile homes, motorcycles or special tools and equipment, the online portal offers a wide range of items that do not have to be purchased expensively, but can be rented at low cost.
rentscout.ch has been online since March 2016. Reto Oschwald, Nicholas Egloff and Blerim Nrecaj can already draw a positive conclusion. "We were very positively surprised by how well it got off to a good start. We contacted many companies in advance, presented the concept to them and everyone was enthusiastic. Many rentals have already come about, especially in the car and motorcycle segment. Soon we will also start a cooperation with a sports car provider. We are very happy that luxury vehicles such as Tesla, Ferrari and Lamborghini will then also be added to the product range. Currently, there is a high demand in vehicles, especially sports cars and vans," summarizes the trio. "Due to the fact that offers are currently not yet available in all regions, we are currently unable to meet certain demands. However, we are doing our best to close these gaps quickly."
