Renault: Comfort and safety with Park Assist 🎥

INVISIBLE HELPERS The latest example of solutions that make driving more comfortable and safer is Renault's "One pedal to park". This allows the driver to control the entire parking process with the accelerator pedal.

Park Assist with new controls has been transferred from the Renault Espace to the Mégane E-Tech Electric.

The system originally developed for the Renault Espace model update is now also used in the new Mégane E-Tech Electric. Numerous adjustments were necessary for this.

Jong-Hoon, Project Manager Renault Driver Assistance Systems: "To change a concept so fundamentally in just two months is actually impossible in the automotive industry. And yet we managed to do it."

Advanced Park Assist takes care of the entire parking maneuver - from finding the parking space to switching off the engine. The original idea therefore involved the driver holding down a button. Now the accelerator pedal takes over this function.

Pape, algorithm engineer: "Using the accelerator pedal as a point of contact is the best solution. The driver only needs to keep his foot on the pedal to activate the maneuver and let go to stop."

The engineers are now satisfied that the pedal solution works even better than the button solution. It is easier to handle, feels more natural and is safer. With its intuitive character, the "one pedal to park" fits perfectly with the purist interior of the new model.
