Mercedes-Benz: All about the new Vito

COMPLETELY SILENT After the Mercedes-Benz V-Class was revised last year, the optimized commercial version is now at the dealership. The eVito Tourer is a purely electric variant. Vito
The Vito from Mercedes-Benz can be recognized by its redesigned grille with the star in the center.

Mercedes-Benz Vans launched its first harbingers of all-electric vans with the eVito two years ago and the eSprinter a year later.

Difference under the hood
According to Mercedes, the driving performance and range of the eVito Tourer define a new dimension. They are up to all requirements as a hotel shuttle, large-capacity cab or vehicle for sharing services.

The new eVito Tourer takes on the look of the Vito with combustion engine, but under the front sits the eATS electric powertrain. This drives the front wheels with a peak output of 150 kW. The energy is stored in a lithium-ion battery in the underbody of the vehicle.

Vito
The eVito is charged via the easily accessible CCS charging socket in the front left bumper.

Two lengths are available
The top speeds of 140 km/h as standard and 160 km/h as optional equipment ensure speedy progress even away from city traffic. The van can be ordered in two different lengths, namely with a total of 5.14 meters or extra-long with 5.37 meters.

Range up to 421 kilometers
The eVito Tourer has a water-cooled AC on-board charger with an output of 11 kW. This makes it ready for AC charging at home or at public charging stations.

This means that the eVito can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in less than 45 minutes at a fast-charging station thanks to a maximum charging power of 110 kW. According to factory specifications, the range is up to 421 kilometers.

Vito
With two bench seats in the rear, the eVito Tourer becomes a comfortable shuttle vehicle.

Diesel Vito with 239 hp and 500 Nm
There are also innovations in the combustion engines. For example, the familiar optimized four-cylinder OM 654 diesel engine with a displacement of two liters is available for all variants of the Vito with rear-wheel and all-wheel drive. Commercial vehicle customers can choose between engines with 102 to 190 hp.

The new powertrain available for the Vito Tourer and the Vito Mixto with passenger car registration is the Vito 124 CDI with 239 hp and 500 Nm. In addition, a further 30 Nm can be activated at short notice with overtorque.

Chassis adapts to the road
Whether it's a bumpy country road or a flat highway, the Airmatic air suspension system, which will be available for the first time in the Vito, eVito Tourer, V-Class and EQV from October 2020, adapts the chassis to the prevailing conditions. Increased ground clearance maintains ride comfort even on uneven terrain.

Active Brake Assist, Distance Assist and a digital interior mirror extend the range of safety assistance systems.

Speed Limiter controls speed
Of particular interest to fleet customers is the built-in speed limiter. Depending on the variant, the maximum top speed can be limited to 120 km/h or 160 km/h.

The entry-level price for the eVito panel van is 30,400 Swiss francs (excluding VAT). The eVito Tourer will be available in summer 2020.
