Mazda: Lower emissions through e-Fuels

e-Fuel
Mazda is working to ensure that e-fuels are included in the calculation of CO₂ fleet emissions in Europe.

The Japanese manufacturer sees the combination of different technologies as the most effective option for this. In the medium term, vehicles with piston engines will continue to exist, especially in countries where battery electric vehicles cannot establish themselves so quickly.

Increasing the efficiency of conventional drives
In addition to electrifying its models and increasing the efficiency of its conventional powertrains, Mazda is promoting the wider use of CO₂-neutral fuels, which will also enable today's piston-powered vehicles to run in a climate-friendly manner.

Together with the members of the e-Fuel Alliance, Mazda is campaigning for e-fuels to be included in the calculation of CO₂ fleet emissions in Europe in the future.

No damage from e-fuels in today's engines
Using electricity, eFuels are produced from renewable energies, water and CO₂ from the air and thus, unlike conventional fuels, do not release any additional CO₂ but are climate-neutral in the overall balance.

The e-fuels do not harm today's engines. They can be mixed with fossil fuels and thus steadily improve the environmental balance. Moreover, they do not require any new infrastructure. They can be transported and stored like gasoline.
