Camper
In the first three quarters of the year, 4341 new campers have been registered in Switzerland.

This is shown by the statistics of auto-schweiz, the Association of Swiss Automobile Importers, which counts 33,526 commercial vehicle registrations up to the end of September. Some classes were able to increase, in some cases sharply; only heavy transport vehicles, with 3397 registrations after nine months, are down 57 registrations or 1.7 percent compared to 2018.

However, in view of the very high level of the previous year, this slight market decline can be absorbed. The deteriorating economic outlook has not yet had any noticeable impact.

Motorhomes on a wave of success
In contrast, motorhomes continue to ride a wave of success. In the first three quarters of the year, 4341 new campers were registered, 789 or 22.2 percent more than in the same period last year. The trend toward a second home on wheels thus remains unbroken, as also evidenced by recent record figures for overnight stays at Swiss campsites. In addition, there are 610 minibuses, cars and buses. Overall, this vehicle segment is up 737 units or 17.5 percent on the previous year, with 4951 registrations.

Growth in the first half-year
Together with the 226,310 passenger cars, a total of 259,836 new motor vehicles were put into circulation in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein in the first half of the current year. Compared with the corresponding period of the previous year, this represents growth of 3143 vehicles or 1.2 percent.
