The market for campers, cars, buses and the like grew by a substantial 39.1 percent year-on-year.

After one quarter, the market is thus even above the level of the record year 2017. Registrations of new vans picked up strongly in the first three months of the year. A total of 8088 new light commercial vehicles with a total weight of 3.5 tons or less were registered, a year-on-year increase of 795 registrations or 10.9 percent.

Motorhomes continue to roll in the trend
The positive trend for passenger transport vehicles is even more pronounced. The market for campers, cars, buses and the like grew by an impressive 39.1 percent year-on-year in the first quarter.
Auto-Schweiz media spokesman Christoph Wolnik on the importance of motorhomes in this segment: "Once again, the camping boom is bearing fruit, with motorhomes accounting for 88.2 percent of the total of 1292 newly registered vehicles. Taken on their own, campers even increased by a staggering 44.9 percent compared to the previous year."

Slight increase in the current year
Together with the 72,065 passenger cars, a total of 82,538 new motor vehicles were put into circulation in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein in the first three months of the current year. Compared with the first quarter of the previous year, this represents growth of 1,107 vehicles or 1.3 percent.
