Nexo
The Hyundai Nexo with hydrogen drive is to be tested over 300,000 kilometers in everyday use.

The strategy of sustainability of the vehicle fleet at the Zurich Cantonal Police, which began in 2003, thus reaches a further phase. Already, 18 percent of the passenger vehicles are operated alternatively.

Equipment for police operation
The front-wheel-drive vehicle is equipped, among other things, with a special signaling system on the roof beam, a post-crash measuring device, an accident memory, a locating system with direct connection to the operations center, radio equipment and signaling material.

It is the first hydrogen-powered electric vehicle to meet the requirements for a traffic police emergency vehicle in the canton of Zurich.

Operating costs in everyday life
The test mission will determine the exact operating costs until 300,000 kilometers have been driven, as well as testing the vehicle's suitability for everyday police use and its service life. The vehicle is stationed in Dübendorf, where it is refueled at the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research (Empa).

Range up to 756 kilometers
In the segment of available electric vehicles (with battery or fuel cell), the Hyundai offers the greatest range of 666 kilometers (according to WLTP) or 756 kilometers (according to NEDC). The values can be compared with those of a conventional combustion engine and also enable longer trips.

Five stars in the crash test
The Korean car with fuel cell technology was the first vehicle to be subjected to a crash test by the European authority Euro NCAP. The Nexo demonstrated its active and passive safety in all categories, earning five stars and the top score overall.
