Hyundai: Hydrogen Rally with Swiss teams

WHERE YOU MEET In 2017, the first 24 Hours Hydrogen Rally took place in Holland in the style of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Now the rally is starting in Germany for the second time - for the first time with two teams from Switzerland. A total of 17 teams will start on Monday, September 28 at 4 p.m. in front of the Bodenseeforum [...]

Nexo
The Hyundai Nexo has five doors, five seats and it offers a trunk capacity up to 1466 liters

A total of 17 teams will start in front of the Bodenseeforum in Constance on Monday, September 28 at 4 p.m. to collect points with their fuel cell electric cars. 24 hours later, they will meet at the gates of f-cell Stuttgart.

Two hydrogen Nexo also at the start
The fact that two Swiss teams are participating this year, each with a Hyundai Nexo, is no coincidence. Switzerland is expanding its network of hydrogen filling stations this year (six by the end of the year), is already producing green hydrogen (H2 Zero) from 100 percent renewable energy sources, and will soon be putting the world's first 36-ton Hyundai Xcient Fuel Cell commercial vehicles on the road.

Range of over 600 kilometers
The Swiss teams Avenergy and Swagelok Switzerland will each be using a Hyundai Nexo, which means they are perfectly equipped for victory. The fuel cell vehicle offers a range of 666 kilometers on one tank of fuel, a value that the teams can surpass with a smooth driving style.

Swiss teams aim for overall victory
Each team determines its own route. But we can assume that the Swiss teams will be seen at the currently available refueling stations in Hunzenschwil (AG) and St. Gallen sometime between 4 p.m. on Monday and 4 p.m. on Tuesday - but not for long. Refueling with green hydrogen only takes a few minutes.

The goal for the teams is called the f-cell Stuttgart, the hydrogen conference for the experts. And the goal for the Swiss teams is also clear: to stand at the top of the podium with energy from sustainable sources and without CO2 emissions.

Endurance and range are important
The organizers of the 24 Hours Hydrogen Rally set themselves a clear goal: The rally should demonstrate the advantages and qualities of electric mobility with hydrogen.

In the style of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the focus is on endurance and range, as well as zero-emissions driving, with teams driving to specific points in 24 hours - each team at its own pace and with its own plan.

Points for each kilometer driven
During the 24 hours in the hydrogen electric vehicle, teams earn points for kilometers driven (1 point each), countries visited (100 points each), refueling stops at hydrogen stations, and visits to specified locations, always related to hydrogen.
In addition to this Classic Challenge, teams can earn points for photos, blogs, communications and videos in the Creative Challenge.
