Geneva 2021: A small salon is being planned

NUN DOCH A concept with 16 densely described and illustrated pages is currently doing the rounds in the Swiss automotive industry. Will there be a slimmed-down event next year in the halls of Palexpo to bridge the gap until the Geneva Motor Show in 2022, without an audience but with important new products from international manufacturers?

Continuation of the tradition of the salon
In any case, the organizers in their paper give the impression that it is very important to continue the tradition of the car show, which is popular and important all over the world.

With good reason: Year after year, almost 10,000 media representatives and more than 600,000 people interested in cars have been regularly welcomed to Lac Léman at the start of the motoring year.

Sorrow for visitors and exhibitors
What is going on behind the scenes at the Geneva International Motor Show GIMS these days is described by the president of the importers' association auto-schweiz in an interview with SonntagsBlick.

François Launaz: "For me, the whole thing is a sad, now unfortunately only political story that will probably end up in litigation - to the chagrin of exhibitors and Salon visitors."

Palexpo works on its own for 2021

François Launaz: "The only thing that is certain at the moment is that GIMS, which has been organizing the event up to now, will not be staging a show in 2021. But I don't know what Palexpo will do on its own. I'm afraid that if the parties don't come to an agreement, there will only be losers in the end."

Car event in the halls of Palexpo
The organizers of the Geneva Automotive & Mobility Media Days want to avoid this situation at all costs.

In response to an inquiry from AutoSprintCH, it says: "Palexpo has always expressed the wish to hold a car event in its halls in 2021. We are looking for possibilities to realize such an event. If our project definitely takes place, we will communicate during the fourth quarter."

One can be curious. What is planned when, where and how, you can see in detail in the gallery and in the Appendix on the 16 pages the concept of the planned Geneva Automotive & Mobility Media Days next year.
