Europcar at the Swiss Handicap
EUROPCAR The car rental company is expanding its fleet to include VW Crafters suitable for the disabled and is exhibiting at the Swiss Handicap trade fair. Since 2015, Europcar has already offered wheelchair accessible VW Caddy Maxi in cooperation with the Cerebral Foundation. This rental car fleet will be expanded to include the VW Crafter vehicle type from April 2018. The two vehicles will be on display at the Swiss Handicap Fair on December 1 and 2, 2017 in Lucerne.
Converted vehicles
Two years ago, the company launched a fleet of rental cars for people in wheelchairs. It initially started with the VW Caddy Maxi, which offers space for one driver, four accompanying persons and one person in a wheelchair. In April 2018, the VW Crafter will be added to this fleet. In addition to the driver, the new vehicle type can accommodate five accompanying persons and two people in wheelchairs.
Cooperation with professionals
All wheelchair accessible vehicles were converted in cooperation with the Cerebral Foundation and are adapted to the corresponding needs and for safe transportation of people in wheelchairs. A non-slip ramp enables safe entry and exit in each case. Thanks to the co-financing of the Cerebral Foundation, these vehicles are in the same price range for customers as other, comparable rental cars.
At more stations
In the course of the launch of the VW Crafter, the rental stations will also be expanded next year. In addition to the Europcar stations in Bern, Geneva, Kloten, Lausanne, Lucerne, Schlieren and Zurich Oerlikon, both vehicle types will also be available in Basel, Fribourg, Lugano and Zug-Cham. At Swiss Handicap (December 1-2, 2017, Allmend Messe Lucerne), information can be obtained at the Europcar stand in Hall 02, as well as a VW Caddy Maxi can be tested. A VW Crafter is available for interested parties at the stand of the vehicle converter Carrosserie Warpel in Hall 01.
