In the nationwide poll, Schweizer Illustrierte, AutoScout24, Blick, SonntagsBlick, L'illustré and il caffè were looking for the "Swiss Cars of the Year". A total of 40 innovations were up for election in the two main categories. Three expert juries chose "The Swiss Car of the Year", "The Most Stylish Car in Switzerland" and "The Greenest Car in Switzerland". In addition, more than 60,000 readers and users took part in the nationwide vote for "The Swiss' Favorite Car." The members of the fourteen-strong jury of experts chose the new Renault Megane as the winner. In line with the boom in this class, the VW Tiguan, which has grown to 4.49 meters in length, narrowly came out on top in the public jury.
